THE
SIX AND SEVEN OF LIFE
In
creation, there are spiritual laws that have been put in place by God, in
which, if we failed to follow them, they can cause spiritual breach! In our
modern world of technological advancement, though, we cannot see the flow of an
electric current with our natural eyes, but, we know it could be dangerous to
merge a positive life wire with a negative one. We are warned not to play with
a life wire because of its deadly implications. But in spiritual matters, there
are certain spiritual laws we treated with levity, just because there are no
immediate negative physical repercussions. But one thing is very sure, whether
we believe it or not, there is nothing that we practiced or invented that has
not been in existence in the spiritual world.
Eccl 1:9 “The thing
that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which
shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10 Is there anything
whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time,
which was before us”
As believers, there are certain things
we don’t know, but, which the elders knew better. And that is the reason we are
going to study two numbers among many. And the two numbers are; ‘6 and 7.’
WHAT
ARE THEY REPRESENTING?
In
creation, man was made on the sixth day. So, the number of man is six. Six
represent the life of man. And this number has a lot to do in our lives. I want
us to go through the bible to bring out some points. The Lord wants us to be
totally occupied with the future. He is only bringing it to our knowledge, and
to remind us that our toil and struggle will last only six days, that is, as
long as we can live as a tree on the earth. After that, we shall have rest.
Now, I want you to come along with me,
so that we can know more about ourselves in this matter.
1. THE COFFIN AND THE GRAVE OF A MAN.
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own
image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them./ 28
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and
replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the
earth. / 29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed,
which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the
fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. // 30 And to every
beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that
creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for
meat: and it was so. / / 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and,
behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”
Truly,
man was told to be fruitful, and multiply, and to replenish the earth. Not that
alone, he was also to subdue and have dominion over all His creatures. Before
the fall of man, man would have possessed the earth without sweat. But now that
man has found himself in this piteous position, whatever he might want to
become in life, he can only achieve it only within the six days of his life.
When his toil and struggle ends in this world, no matter what he possessed in
life, his coffin cannot be more than six feet long! Even if the deceased man or
woman is eight feet tall in height, a special casket can never be prepared for
his burial. The only thing that can be bone is to fold his or her legs into the
coffin; all coffins are equal in length, no matter the breadth!
(Gen 1:24) And
God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle,
and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so (Gen 1:25) And God made the beast of the earth after
his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the
earth after his kind: and God saw that it
was good
All that were created the same day with man came
forth from the earth. Man was created from the dust of the earth (Gen 2:7) And the LORD God formed man of
the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and
man became a living soul. All creatures that were created, that has blood,
has life. (Gen 9:4) But flesh with the life thereof, which
is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. (Deut 12:23) ‘ Only be sure that thou
eat not the blood: for the blood is
the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh’. When man dies, he will be buried. At this time, there is no
more blood in his veins, so the body is buried since it is forbidden for anyone
to eat both the flesh and blood of another man. But God has given the flesh of
beast for our consumption, but not with the blood. Therefore, ‘(Lev 17:13) ‘And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of
the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or
fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover
it with dust.’
Since the life of the flesh is in the blood,
blood or life of the beast must be covered with the dust. That means, the blood
must be buried.
What
about the grave? Since the existence of man, every grave that is dug for a dead
man was and is six feet deep. And because a man may sleep and may never wake up
again, his bed can never be shorter or longer than six feet in length. As believers,
if we can put this into our mind, that, that is how the life of everyman will
end, just as Solomon had said;
Eccl
“1:2 /Vanity of vanities, saith the
Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity./ /3 What profit hath a man of all
his labour which he taketh under the sun?/ / 4 One generation passeth away, and
another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever./ / 5 The sun also
ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose. // 6
The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth
about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits./ / 7
All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from
whence the rivers come, thither they return again. / / 8 All things are full of
labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear
filled with hearing.”
>>LET US COMPARE OUR LIFE WITH
THESE CREATURES
We
are told to replenish the earth and to possess it. But the amazing thing is that,
that very earth we are told to possess, outlives us! Upon all the ups and downs
to inherit it, it came back to swallow us up in the six feet deep grave. Here
another generation takes over and the earth remains forever.
* The sun arose from the east, and set
in the west; but like a boomerang, it will still come around to the east, to
rise once again.
* The wind moves in a circuit: from the
south to the North, it whirled about, then, it goes back to the south.
* What about the rivers? Every river
that has a source, no matter how far it’s gone, it will surely return to its
source.
All
these things that have been created by God have no rest. They are full of ups
and downs; which no man can stop. I wonder if any man can be satisfied when the
eyes have not been satisfied with seeing, nor the ears declared that, it is
okay with hearing. These can only happen after we have closed our eyes in
death.
If
all these are true, then, man is not different; he was created out of the dust,
dust shall he go back to, upon all his labour that is full of inordinate
ambitions! In all of these, the earth will still open its mouth six feet deep
to create a room for him; that is his number in creation.
*2. THE SIX MEN WITH THE WEAPONS OF
DESTRUCTION*
When God was about to visit judgment
upon the city of Jerusalem after the land of Israel was segregated into two
kingdoms, He said something into the ears of prophet Ezekiel.
Ezek
9:1 /“He cried also in mine ears with a
loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near,
even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand./ / 2 And, behold, six
men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and
every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed
with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood
beside the brasen altar//.”
The
men that were called out were the territorial Angels of God in charge of the
City. But the reason why they were six in number is because they came to shed
the blood of the wicked in the land: /Lev
17:11 “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you
upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that
maketh an atonement for the soul.”/ When you shed a man’s blood, you have
taken his life. And that was their motive for their appearing; and the life or
blood of man is six by number, six executors were sent out to execute it. The
command was ordered:
Ezek
9:6 “Slay utterly old and young, both maids,
and little children, and women:/ ….. But before this was carried out, there
was an instruction from the Lord to the six men; /Ezek 9:4 “And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the
city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the
men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst
thereof.”
No
matter how unrighteous a nation might be, the Lord will always have his remnant
within the crowd. He sealed His people in Egypt. He will also seal His remnant
during the travail of Jacob. [Rev 7 and 14]. This is the group He told the man
with white linen to seal upon their foreheads. The white linen is a symbol of
righteousness; the Lord came to judge righteously. He is no respecter of
anybody!
But
do you know why they were standing beside the brazen altar? In the land of
Israel, there were different kinds of altar. Don’t forget, we have the golden
altar. But this brazen altar symbolized ‘Judgment’. That was the altar on which
the sins of the Israelites were judged. Since they came to judge Israel, they
needed to stand beside the altar of judgment, and their judgment was right,
hence’ one of them was putting on white linen which is the righteousness of the
saints. [Rev.19:8] / “…… but come not
near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began
at the ancient men which were before the house//.”/May the Lord not judge us in His anger, in Jesus name,
Amen.
*3. THE SIX CITIES OF REFUGE*
As
I was saying, when a man’s blood is shed, his life has been taken. /Lev 17:11 “For the life of the flesh is in
the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for
your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”/ If
the blood is given as an atonement for the soul, then, it was no wonder that
the six men that were called out, were standing before the brasen altar of
judgment to shed the blood of the wicked in the land before the captivity! If
the life of man is symbolized by the number ‘6’ then, the number of his blood
[life] is six. /Deut 12:23 ‘Only be sure
that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou gayest not eat
the life with the flesh.
Why
do you think God told Moses to establish six [6] cities of refuge? Gen 9:6 /“//Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by
man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man//.” That
was the verdict of the Lord before the advent of Israel;
but when the nation of Israel was born, the same law was applied. In
the land of Israel, there were laws to be applied when person is killed
wittingly or unwittingly. The law of murder says; /Num 35:17 “And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he
may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to
death. / /Num 35:18 Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith
he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to
death.”// /If somebody had knowingly or unknowingly killed another person,
it is called murder. In such difficult case like this, the murderer is killed
or slayed by the kinsmen of the dead which was called ‘ the revenger of blood
[life].’ The revenger of blood [life]
himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.[vs.
19]
But
there was a problem here. How do you know who was a murderer or a
manslaughterer. But, whether it was manslaughter or not, since it involved
human blood or life, and since God doesn’t want the flow of innocent blood in
Israel, God told Moses to tell the Israelites:
/Num 35:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses
in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,/ / 2 Command the children
of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their
possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs
for the cities round about them….. Num 35:6 And among the cities which ye shall
give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall
appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add
forty and two cities./
Forty
two cities were given out to the Levites, but six were meant for the cities of
refuge. This was for what purpose?
/Num 35:11 Then ye shall appoint you
cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which
killeth any person at unawares. / / 12 And they shall be unto you cities for
refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the
congregation in judgment./ / 13 And of these cities which ye shall give six cities
shall ye have for refuge./ / 14 Ye shall give three cities on this side
Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which
shall be cities of refuge.
15 //These six cities shall be a
refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the
sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee
thither./ 16 And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he
is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death./
The
six cities were created to protect anyone that has killed unknowingly, to
protect his life before he would be judged. Because the life of man is six,
hence, the six cities of refuge. But I want you to take note of something: /Num 35:14 “Ye shall give three cities on
this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which
shall be cities of refuge.” /As
believers, we cannot afford to miss this spiritual secret. Man was created on
the sixth day of creation. His coffin is six feet long. His grave is six feet
deep. If that is true, there is a lay down spiritual rule by God. It is now
left to man to obey or not to obey it. By not obeying it, it would cause
spiritual breach, of which man may not know, because it is spiritual! For the
six cities of refuge, three were given on the side the Jordan, while another
three were given in the land of Canaan. Why? This is because the coffin or
casket of every dead person is carried by six men or underwriters; three [3] by
the left and three [3] by the right. It is now left in our hand to follow that
order. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
*3B:
ITS FULFILMENT IN CHRIST.*
Num 35:24 Then the congregation shall
judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these
judgments:/ / 25 And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand
of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of
his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the
high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil./ / 26 But if the slayer
shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he
was fled;/
Since
the life of man is six, Elizabeth was six month pregnant when an Angel visited
Mary, the espoused wife of Joseph, in the sixth month. /Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy
Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee:
therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the
Son of God.
/ 27 And the revenger of blood find him
without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill
the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood: / / 28 Because he should have
remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but
after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his
possession./
The
man slaughterer represent the sinful mankind. He was driven out from the land
of his possession, to a land of confinement, where there was no freedom to go
out until the death of the high priest, which has been anointed. After his
death, the man can now go back to the land of his possession. Without the death
of the high priest, the sinful man would remain in perpetual custody or
confinement!
Man
was driven out of the Garden of Eden because of sin. He lost the glory of God.
But he was driven into the world because he did not sin willingly, but was
deceived by Satan. But mankind was in perpetual bondage awaiting the judgment
of God. The man that was confined in the six city of refuge cannot regain his
freedom without the death of the high priest. So also, man was set free from
the bondage of sin and death until Jesus was ordained as a High Priest, after
the order of Melchi-zedek. [Heb 5:10] Immediately this appointed time came, the
bible said:
/Mt
27:45 “Now from the sixth hour there was
darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour./ 46 And about the ninth hour
Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to
say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?/ 47 Some of them that stood
there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias./ 48 And
straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and
put it on a reed, and gave him to drink./ 49 The rest said, Let be, let us see
whether Elias will come to save him./ 50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a
loud voice, yielded up the ghost./ 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was
rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the
rocks rent;”/
Any
man that was confined in any of the six cities of refuge in the land of Israel,
would only be free after the death of the high priest, who was the incumbent
priest at the time he committed the offence. Now, the High Priest of our
calling, which is Jesus, was born at the time we were in the land of bondage-
the world. Since Jesus was to be born as the Son of man, He must also carry the
number of man, which is six, something happened both to Elizabeth and Mary.
/Luke 1:26 “And
in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee,
named Nazareth,/ 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the
house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary./ 28 And the angel came in unto
her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee:
blessed art thou among women. / 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at
his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.” 36
And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old
age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
In
pregnancy, if you aborted, you have taken a life. At the sixth month, the baby
is already matured; the baby has life already because that is the number of
man. Elizabeth was six month pregnant when the Angel visited Mary, and that
month was to be the beginning of the conception of Jesus Christ. And because at
the sixth month of a baby, in his mother’s womb, he is a living soul. Do you
know what happened when they saluted each other?
/Luke
1:39 “And Mary arose in
those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judas;/
40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. 41 And it
came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe
leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:”
The
One [John] to herald the High Priest [Jesus]] was six month old in the womb
when the conception of the One to come began. John was 6 month older than our
Lord. Our High Priest was conceived at the sixth month. The child, John, leaped
in her mother’s womb. Why? Because, at that month, the child was a complete
man. Jesus died on the cross between the sixth and the ninth our. As our High
Priest, he entered the Holy of holy when the veil that represented His body was
cut asunder, to set us free from the six cities of refuge. Since it was a city
of refuge, in our modern day language, it is a refugee camp. A refugee camp, is
restricted place, where you cannot do what you like. Our High Priest died, and
set us free from this refugee camp, called the world of sin, so that we can go
back to the Garden of Eden [paradise]
//Heb 10:19 “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to
enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, / 20 By a new and living way,
which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
/ 21 And having a high priest over the house of God;”/
Today, by the death of Jesus, our High
Priest, we are set free from the judgment of spiritual death.
*4. IMUNITY AGAINST THE SIX TROUBLES OF
LIFE.*
If
truly the life or number of man is six, we know that the life of man is full of
troubles. The toils and struggle of man only lasted six days, that is, as long as
he or she is alive. The Lord has said that, sorrow and tribulation shall be on
the earth, but we should not be afraid, because He has conquered the world.
This is what he was trying to say:
/Job 5:19 “He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee./ 20 In famine he shall
redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword. / 21 Thou shalt
be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of
destruction when it cometh. / 22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh:
neither shalt thou be afraid of thebeasts of the earth./ 23 For thou shalt be
in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at
peace with thee./ 24 And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace;
and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin. / 25 Thou shalt know
also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the
earth. / 26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn
cometh in his season.”/
He
said He will deliver you in six troubles; that means, as long as you live, He
will protect or seal you from any calamity that might befall a nation. That is
what it meant to be delivered in six troubles. Since six is the number of man
or life, the problems that faces a living man, is called the six troubles of
life.
*4B. IN SEVEN THERE SHALL NO EVIL TOUCH
THEE.*
Job 5:19 /He shall deliver thee in six
troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.[KJV]
Job 5:19 He will keep you safe from six
troubles, and in seven no evil will come near you./ (BBE)
The
Lord has said, He will save you from six troubles. Now, He is telling you, He
will save you from seven. What does it mean to be saved from seven troubles?
Seven [7] is the number of perfection. It also describes the severity,
totality, tenacity, completeness or wholesomeness of a thing or situation. It
denotes how bad or good something is. In this respect, the verse is saying, the
Lord will deliver you from the worst troubles that may befall a man, or from
the worst conditions of life.[ poverty, sickness, famine, war etc] In the verse
above, it is telling us that in the worst condition of life, that may befall a
man, of which people may think he can’t survive, but to the bewilderment of many
people, God will just lift him or her up! Job himself was somebody God saved
from the seven troubles of life. /Proverb
24:16 “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked
shall fall into mischief.”
That
means ,a righteous man, who totally fell from grace to grass; and people had
given the verdict that he can never rise up again; that is what is meant by
fallen seven times. But the Lord said He will lift him up. That should be the
hope of every believer. No matter the ugly condition you might find yourself,
God is not a man that He should lie, neither the son of man that He should
repent. He is a covenant keeping God. Yours is to pray to Him/.
Job
22:27 “Thou shalt make thy prayer unto
him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows./ 28 Thou shalt also
decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall
shine upon thy ways./ 29 When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is
lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.”/
Off course, there is lifting up for any
man that depends on the name of his God in the day of his trouble. As a
Christian, what might prompt you to take a decision that is contrary to the
will of God for your life? Could it be sickness! He has said He will save you
from the six and seven problems of life. Is there any battle that is facing
you, which you think you can not subdue? Take note of what He had said in His
word;
/Deut 28:7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies
that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out
against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways//./
This
means, they will run away completely, with no intention to come back again. It
happened in the life of David and Solomon, his son. I know there are enemies
around you, but the One that is in you, is greater than he [Satan] that is in
the world. Have confidence in Him; He would not allow you to be moved by the
enemies.
I
want you to learn from the three Hebrew men who refused to bow to the golden
Bel god of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. Their refusal led to this order to
his servants/:
Daniel 3:19 “Then was Nebuchadnezzar
ful of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach,
and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the
furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.”
The
seven times only meant, add more flame to the fire, so that it can burn to the
highest order. Make it hotter, was the command. That was the worst or hottest
fire that the enemy could kindle against them. But they were not daunted by the
severity of the hotness of the burning furnace. They could still remember what
the Lord said about this:
Isaiah 43:2 /“//… when thou walkest
through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon
thee./ 3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave
Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee./ 4 Since thou wast precious
in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I
give men for thee, and people for thy life. / 5 Fear not: for I am with
thee:…….”/
Verily
they walked through a fire that was kindled seven times, but it could not burn
them, all because the Lord was in the midst of the fire. He was the Angel in
the fire in the wilderness. [Gen 3:2] The grasses or bush that the fire could
not consume ,represented the Israelites in Egypt. Here we have three true and
faithful Hebrews in the fire in a foreign land. According to the promise of God,
that He would give people for their life, the enemies of Daniel were thrown
into a lion den. The word of the Lord never fails. That was the confidence they
had, to face the king and his dangerous and envious adversaries.
Ps 12:6 “The words of the LORD are pure
words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven time
If the word of the Lord that has been
purified seven times dwells in you richly, there is no fire of afflictions you
cannot pass through. That was the fire proof in the life of the three Hebrew
men. Common, the three men passed through fire, but after that, they were
promoted. Likewise you, the fire of afflictions you might be passing through
hitherto, you will come out of it, glittering like gold, never like before! The
Lord has promised you, that, He will save you from six and seven troubles of
life; that should be enough for your mainstay. Have repose in the Lord Jesus;
He shed His blood on your account. He became poor so that you might be rich. By
His stripes you are healed; His Father refused to answer His cry on the cross.
His Father forsook Him so that you might not be forsaken when you cried unto
Him. He was hung between heaven and the earth. Heaven and earth rejected Him,
all because of you and me, so that the heaven and the earth will not bear
witness against us. While He was the Son of man, he was lonely, and has no
place to lay His head. (Psa 102:7) I watch, and am as a sparrow
alone upon the house top.
He
hungered, all because He wanted to protect us against the six and seven
troubles of life. Are you sick? And you want the Lord to heal you from your
infirmities? What kind of disease that is in your body; and is tormenting you?
All these, in the New Testament days were called evil- spirits; your body shall
not be a hiding place for them. You are the temple of the Holy Spirit; He would
not give them a space in your body. The Lord Jesus did it in the life of Mary
Magdalene;
Mt 9:20 “And, behold, a woman, which
was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched
the hem of his garment:/ 21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his
garment, I shall be whole./ 22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her,
he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the
woman was made whole from that hour.”/
She
was made whole. That means, she was completely healed of all her diseases or
infirmities. That was what was later referred to as seven spirits/.
Luke 8:2 “And certain women, which had
been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom
went seven devils,/ 3 And Joanna the wife
of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto
him of their substance.”
The
evil spirits and the infirmities are the same as the devils. These devils are
the spirits behind all her infirmities. Since seven [7] denotes completeness or
totality, seven spirits were said to have been cast out of her. Seven represent
all the spirits behind her problems, which were cast out of her. The evil
spirit here does not mean spirit of witchcraft, but the spirits behind all our
diseases. Mary Magdalene became hale and hearty; and she was jumping in the
Lord. She became one of the followers of Jesus, who used her substances to minister
unto Him.
Can
you still recollect the Shunamite woman, whose son died? [2kg 4] Can you still
remember what happened after prophet Elijah laid on him?
/2Kings 4:35 “Then he returned, and walked in
the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the
child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.”/ By sneezing seven times shows that
he was completely healed and alive! That has been His promises to you, that, He
will deliver you from six troubles, and out of seven, nor shall come near you.
Once you are healed, it is left for you to safeguard your life with the word of
God, because: /Luke //11:24 “When the
unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking
rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came
out./ 25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished 26 Then goeth
he, and taketh to him seven other
spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and
the last state of that man is worse than the first” The seven here, is not numerical. Seven is a representative
number. It encompassed the totality of the evil spirits that came back into
that man; the number is increased, I pray, yours shall not be so, in the Name
of Jesus. Amen.
In
all this, the most important day after the toils and struggles of man, is the
seventh day. The Israelites worked for six days and rested the seventh day,
which happens to be on Saturday; it’s called a Sabbath day, in which no human
fire was to be kindled throughout their dwellings.
/Ex 35://2 “Six days shall work be done, but
on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the
LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death. / 3 Ye shall kindle
no fire throughout your habitations upon the Sabbath day.”/ God was only
saying that, when your day of rest comes, you do not need any natural effort to
satisfy yourself, no matter how important they might be. But we know that
Israel could not enter into this rest because of unbelief;
/Heb
3:9 “When your fathers tempted me, proved
me, and saw my works forty years./ 10 Wherefore I was grieved with that
generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known
my ways./ 11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)//.
/Since
they could not enter into His rest, there is another rest awaiting us. /Heb 4:4 “For he spake in a certain place of
the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his
works./ 5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. / 6 Seeing
therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was
first preached entered not in because of unbelief:”/
No
matter how long we live on earth, the Lord wants us to be mindful of the
future. Our struggles will only last six days, after that, we shall have rest.
In this dispensation of grace, we have peace with God because of the blood of
the Lamb that was shed in Calvary for the remission of our sin. Once we have
the confidence that we shall be with Jesus in glory, we shall have peace of
mind. While we are also alive in the flesh, if we trust Him, we shall have
peace in the midst of circumstances. He has said that in the face of the six
troubles of life we shall laugh at our ugly situations:
Job 5:22 At destruction and famine thou
shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth./ 23 For
thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the
field shall be at peace with thee./ 24 And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle
shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin. / 25
Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the
grass of the earth. Job 5:26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like
as a shoch of corn cometh in his season. / 27 Lo this, we have searched it, so
it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.” /
We
are enjoying all these because we have been blessed with every spiritual
blessings in the heavenly places in Christ. It’s on earth we prepare and work
for God; it’s in heaven we get the reward of what we have done while we were in
the flesh. We can no longer preach the gospel in heaven: every one there are
holy, within and without. No sin in heaven; it is sin that is making us to face
the six troubles of life. In heaven, we are joint-heirs with Christ; and all
these we shall enjoy with Him, when we shall enter His rest. When the Lord
comes to take us home, which I know we soon happen, the wilderness path with
all its six troubles, will all come to an end in the seventh day of eternal
rest. We shall all be there. In Jesus Name, Amen.
